Do you know the Universal Declaration of Animal Rights? This declaration was adopted by The International League for Animal Rights in 1977. It was later approved by the United Nations (UN) and by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Reading it calmly, we realize that not all Articles are always followed.

Article 1: All animals are born equal before Life and have the same rights to existence.

Article 2: Every animal has the right to respect. The human being, as an animal species, cannot claim the right to exterminate other animals, or to exploit them in violation of this right. You have an obligation to put your knowledge to the service of animals. All animals have the right to human attention, care and protection.

Article 3: No animal will be subjected to mistreatment or cruel acts. If the death of an animal is necessary, it must be instantaneous, painless and not generating anxiety .

Article 4: Every animal belonging to a wild species has the right to live freely in its own natural environment, terrestrial air or water, and to reproduce. Any deprivation of liberty, even that which has educational purposes, is contrary to this right.

Article 6: Every animal that the human has chosen as a companion has the right that the duration of its life be in accordance with its natural longevity. The abandonment of an animal is a cruel and degrading act.

Article 7: Every working animal has the right to a reasonable limitation of the time and intensity of work, to a restorative diet and to rest.

Article 8: Animal experimentation involving physical or psychological suffering is incompatible with animal rights, whether it is medical, scientific, commercial, or any other form of experimentation. Alterative techniques must be used and developed.

Article 9: When an animal is raised for food, it must be nourished, installed and transported, as well as slaughtered, without this being a reason for anxiety or pain.

Article 10: No animal should be exploited for human recreation. Animal exhibitions and animal shows are incompatible with the dignity of the animal.

Article 11: Any act that involves the death of the animal without necessity is a biocide, that is, a crime against life.

Article 12: Any act that involves the death of a large number of wild animals is a genocide, that is, a crime against the species. Pollution and destruction of the natural environment lead to genocide.

Article 13: A dead animal must be treated with respect. Scenes of violence in which animals are victims should be banned in movies and on television, except if they are intended to show the attacks on animal rights.

Article 14: The organisms for the protection and safeguarding of animals must be represented at the governmental level. Animal rights must be upheld by law as are human rights
