Toxic dog food

Did you know that some foods that we consume on a daily basis are very toxic to dogs, and can even cause death ?

As with humans, sensitivity to toxins varies from dog to dog, and you will surely come across people who say that their dog eats this or that food and nothing happens to it. Now, if foods contain certain substances that can be very harmful and those foods are perfectly essential in your diet, why risk your best friend’s health ?

As prevention is better than cure , we recommend that you keep these foods out of their reach, since although some are extremely harmful to your body, they do not cause rejection of the palate. On the contrary, they are products that can be very appetizing. Remember to report this to all family members, including children.

Here is a list of some of the most toxic foods for dogs:

–           Grapes (fresh or raisins) : some dogs are extremely sensitive to grape toxicity, and even a small amount can kill them, so if you suspect that your dog has eaten grapes, see a veterinarian immediately.

–          Chocolate : dogs assimilate theobromine produced by chocolate more slowly than we can, causing disease and, in the worst case, death.

–          Garlic: frequent consumption of garlic in considerable quantities affects your red blood cells and can cause anemia.

–          Onion: it contains thiosulfate, just like garlic, but in much larger amounts, so small amounts of onion consumed frequently may be enough to make you sick. However, it is not harmful if cooked.

–          Milk : most adult dogs are lactose intolerant, so milk consumption causes diarrhea. Although it is possible to give lactose-free milk, the truth is that it is not necessary for your diet, so we recommend avoiding it (except veterinary prescription).

In addition, other harmful foods for them are:

– Avocado,

– Coffee

– Macadamia nuts

– Fatty foods

– Unbaked bread dough

– Sweet

– Xylitol

Remember also that you should not leave medicines (neither human nor for animals) within reach or give alcohol, since in addition to the toxicity itself, it can harm itself.
